I started my professional career in 1980 when I enrolled as a B.Nursing degree student at the University of Stellenbosch . This degree comprised of General Nursing and Pshychiatry. All my practical work was done at Tygerberg Hospital and Stikland Hospital . The next step was to  complete a diploma to practice as a midwife, which I completed in 1985. My first assignment was working as a nursing sister in an Intensive Care Unit.

At the end of 1995, after 2 years of studying at the University of Stellenbosch I completed a Diploma in Nursing Administration and Community Nursing Science.

I worked at Tygerberg Hospital until 1996. This only gave me insight into a provincial hospital. The next 2 years I worked for Medi-Nurse Agency and each day I was placed at a different private hospital.

In 1998 I started to work in a High Care ward at Panorama Hospital , which lasted for 2 years.

In May of 2000 I joined an Occupational Health Nursing Organization, Incon. For the next 5 years I was introduced to the world of Occupational Health. During 2004 I completed a diploma course through the University of Stellenbosch in Occupational Health. The Department of Health also required that I obtain a Dispensing license for Health Care Professionals during 2004.

As you can see I have never stopped working or studying. I have been on a journey through my working and my personal life. All that I have experienced, seen and have had to handle, have made me become the person I am today.

Many things that have happened in my life contributed to what I am presently doing. These trials and tribulations have shaped and molded me to become what I only dreamed of. I am now living my dream.

Working long, grueling hours and forever delivering a service does something to a person. You accept that your present working situation is all that you are capable of – caring only for others and forgetting about yourself. Recently I looked back at all the events of my life – happiness, success, pain, worry etc., and I received the strength to see the grace of God. These things keep me grateful, humble and the courage to live each day as best as I can.
